THE PRINCIPAL

Walter Welst, Principal Architect, founded his architectural practice in 1984 in Melbourne, Australia.
He graduated from Melbourne University in 1975 and practised with leading architectural firms in London, Salzburg and Melbourne prior the formation of his inspiring design-focused practice.
His signature is in the purity of design. His architectural works express a high level of creativity exploring new and innovative design solutions, ensuring bespoke detailing and quality throughout every phase of a project.
He is known for his awareness of context in his designs and his attentive and highly practical way of working, always focusing on the client’s needs and expectations.

His travels are a great source of his inspiration, as are the individual traits of his clients.
​
His designs incorporate functional spaces imbued with a timeless character and combines the distinctive modern with classicist influences. His works integrate sustainable principles and the use of appropriate material selections. His commitment in the use of natural, unadorned materials and bespoke detailing delivers a quality and beauty inherent with each of his projects.
